| Environmental education
One aspect of innovation in education is to replace the passive
style of learning, in which students develop skills by listening
to a teacher or reading a book based on a narrow field of science,
by a more active role in which they are provided with tools such
as the internet, allowing them to see the 'bigger picture' and
relationship between different fields of education.
Environmental Education (EE) is an excellent field for this new
kind of education. The goal of EE is to let the students see the
interaction between the beautiful environment in which we live
and mans destruction of our environment through our activities.
Students are encouraged to see the environment as a system for
which each individual is responsible and which they should to
take care of and cherish so that their future generations may
enjoy it equally.
Since EE spans such a wide variety of school subjects, it lends
itself perfectly to interdisciplinary projects in which teachers
of different courses are forced to work together. Apart from fieldwork,
excursions etc., ICT can give such projects a wider range of possibilities.
Furthermore, by using ICT, it's possible to practice EE in a more
international way.
Employees of E-linQ have much experience when it comes to EE.
They have worked on international EE projects as well as setting
up a regional EE network that they are still guiding. Because
of these projects, e-linQ has build up many contacts with companies,
offices and individuals that are active in the field of EE. The
development en support of projects, especially networks associated
with EE, is perfectly suited for the tasks of E-linQ.
