ASP is a UNESCO program focussed on setting up and supervising international education projects: "The UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network is a network of schools throughout the world committed to the ideals of Unesco".

ASP-schools are defined as schools that support and propagate the objectives of this UNESCO-program within the regular national educational systems.

Between 1990 and 1997 Wim Didderen was the national coordinator of the Netherlands.
