The roots of e-linQ can be found
at the Sintermeertencollege
in Heerlen. This high school has been remarked as being a predecessor
school in the field of ICT and internationalisation.
As the coordinator of ICT, internationalisation and environmental
education, Wim Didderen was involved in numerous activities involving
educational innovation. Gradually the department SMC Telematica
was developed. This department took care of the organisation of
projects in the field of ICT, Internationalisation and Environmental
education whether linked to the Sintermeertencollege or not. SMC
Telematica developed into an independent project department, enlarging
its borders each time, thereby fully stimulating its growth potential.
Despite the change of the office’s name from SMC-Telematica
into e-linQ the close ties with the Sintermeertencollege will continue
to exist. Continually the ways in which ‘new’ education
could be implemented is considered in co-operation with pupils and
teachers.
